Spinner luggage has its adherents, those who enjoy walking poodles, for instance. The Rapid Traveler has never experimented with spinners, but this gent at MSP makes the case for spinners when toting multiple suitcases.
He lumbered with ease, the physics of the arrangement pressing the cases together. Clever, simple, yet The Rapid Traveler has not previously seen this two timin’ move, leaving the other hand free to wander.

A spinner can be a lifesaver – like when I broke my elbow in London and flew back in a cast. I had to manage one-armed and don’t think I could have dealt with purse-small bag-bigger bag without a spinner (first time I used one, ‘lucky’ me).
@Gary – like Scott M. said, look for the family member nearby without the luggage burden, in my case my wife calls me a ‘walking closet’ because she hangs jackets, scarves, purses, etc on me and it seems she always avoids pulling luggage when I am in tow.
@RakSiam – this was by the parking and light rail so those presumably were checked.
Spinners are very handy-particularly when traveling with a child. I have been able to wrangle two large bags (both spinners), a pack-n-play, a car seat (all checked), two carry-ons, and a backpack, leaving my wife free to deal only with a toddler and a diaper bag. In spite of feeling like a pack mule, I suspect I had the easier job.
If you see someone with more than one carry-on and a personal item, look around for a companion with their arms free; they are probably together.
Spinners have an advantage for CHECKED luggage. From what I recall many planes have narrow cargo holds and bag-loaders TOSS regular bags from one end to the other. Spinners however can be rolled, and thus seem less likely to suffer thump damage. Just picked up a Costco cheap carry-on spinner (Ricardo) and one the one trip we’ve been on with it, it seemed very sturdy and serviceable even by comparison to the North Face rollaboards we usually use. It’s hard to beat the North Face bags though for their awesome handles.
I’m a spinner fan, mainly because luggage handles are never long enough for me to wheel behind me when I’m walking at a fast pace.
please tell me no airline let him carry all of that on the plane. Gate checked?

Who needs a second rollaboard?
Spinners just seem so…poodleriffic, and not at all amenable to rapid travel.
@matt – indeed you probably won’t see me hauling that kind of tonnage outside of stock-up trips to China.
