Citi has been cracking down on retention offers since early 2016. Since that time of my 11 Citi accounts I have not gotten one to have more than an annual retention offers.
My last round of calls was in April. Today, with my Citi Prestige annual fee hitting I called and the first thing the agent said was, “You were last through here in April.” With all the Citi Prestige changes this past summer I thought there was a chance something would come up. She had nothing besides a lower interest rate offer.
Same result for all my other cards in prior calls.
Since cards earning ThankYou points routinely have 6-month bonus point offers among their options (subject to caps), it can make sense to stagger by 6 months to always be earning if you have multiples of the card.
