Moldy chocolate strawberries is a welcome gift to remember. Makes me want to try for Club Carlson Concierge status to see what I can get at the Radisson Decapolis Panama!
I am pretty easygoing about hotels, this I just laugh off as comically funny, particularly my repeated efforts over 25 minutes in English to get someone to take these away, most conversations went like, “It is a welcome gift, you don’t want?” Well, now they are gone with only a “permiso” from the guy sent to collect them, and I am left to a beautiful room with a bizarre picture that deserves a post of its own, in an elaborate, modern complex. In addition to the welcome gift, Golds gets free buffet breakfast (update: all guests get free Continental breakfast), $20 per night bar credit (I bought half a dozen bottles of water), and $25 in chips for the in-house casino, so they want me drunk and gambling. I’ll give the booze and felt tables a pass, and will just be careful about the fruit at breakfast.
Update: the breakfast buffet checked out A-OK. It is Continental and free to all guests, the upsell is for the entrees. My yogurt choice: strawberry.

[…] for Park Inn. Radissons, like Crowne Plazas, are generally much nicer everywhere but the US, and moldy chocolate strawberries aside, I have had some excellent stays on several continents for business this year, so will get […]
Ah, exceeding quality with the Carlson brand.
Reminds me of my experience with the former Park Inn in Tulsa where I not only experienced bed bugs [during summer 2012] in my room, but also saw a roach scamper across the hallway from one room, crossing the hallway, into the room across the way I was making my way to my “fresh” room. That and a grasshopper in the lobby— needless to say the just rebranded to property in October.
Radisson, nasty! The strawberries? ALMOST as nasty. I guess that’s just my feeling about Carlson domestic (with the exception of Blu) 🙂
@Jimgotkp – thanks, I will do that. It was nearly midnight on Saturday so I called it a night at the time.
@Kay – well, I look at it this way, I am not in Panama to see a hotel room, and anyway, I did not need to be eating more chocolate last night!
That is disgusting. Nice to see you have a sense of humor about it.
Ewwwww! Those are REALLY moldy! :p
I think after 5 minutes I would have just flushed them.
The other comps sounded pretty good.
That’s pretty disgusting. I got a similar welcome gift at the Radisson in Branson, MO. But they were the best chocolate-covered strawberries ever.
Did you alert hotel? If not, I would do so… Stuff like this is great information for management.
