I have been looking for an interactive tool to show my itineraries. Go Pro Travelling may be the solution. The big plus is that it uses Google Maps. The animations are fun if a bit slow. The main downside is that does not offer a wide range of flexibility. I have not figured out how to add earlier steps, tweaking the dates does not work, so once I left off the flights over to Dublin I was not going back.
The double arrows in the upper left show the steps, the play and stop buttons in the upper right control the animation. Zoom works in typical Google Maps fashion.

hahaha how true! I have had the same thoughts about trying to show people my travels.
This is a cool technology but the zooming makes me a little motion sick. It would be nice to be able to attach at least a thumbnail picture and brief comment to each waypoint.

@john – thanks for the feedback, I have gotten a number of reader requests that they want my itineraries more clear rather than popping up here and there, so I have been trying to find tools that show and share clearly. Great Circle Mapper is favored by mileage runners but is static and does not represent overland well. This is a bit gimmicky however I like the ability to separate by transport mode and time. I will keep playing with it to see what I can pull together.
interesting. Not sure what the specific intention is. To just show where I have been, I use regular google maps (only for countries where they have navigation obviously). But google lets you keep adding destinations until you have about 20 of them. Then there is a make link button somewhere and you can send the link and the person gets regular google maps with your itinerary. I dont know the above feels a big gimmicky to me I guess I like things simple.
