I was much better at travel than blogging in 2014. Some trips have fallen by the wayside, so in the spirit of kindred-spirit UPGRD Matthew for the second year running has put up a year in review list to shame himself into catching up on the blog, I am doing the same.

Why was East Africa courtesy of Wideroe? Fuel Dump? (I’m not against an FD but, my sense is that isn’t your style, very curious on the booking tool connection)
@TCCQuest – I finally remembered. The airline name was not in the OTA systems so it displated as Wideroe, I guess wet lease? Since that name had been in the news for fuel dump reasons it caught my eye.
I know I am in the minority, but I would like to hear about the virgins and Puerto Rico. It is nice to hear your totally different perspective on the Caribbean islands because it is difficult to get much more than beach out of other outlets. How did these islands compare to the other ones? How easy/expensive was it to get around the various islands? Did you visit the spanish virgins?
I’m quite envious of your travels. So much packed into the year! I would say trip reports can wait if you are enjoying yourself while traveling. That’s the most important part anyway.
@Jeffsetter – I am looking forward to your incredibly cool year ahead!
@Shannon – she determines the trips, she doesn’t think it is played too much, so yes, I am becoming a Shanghai husband. 🙂
You play spousal harmony card a little too much, IMO, funny in the beginning but turned out a little bit unfair to Mrs. rtc …or you were becoming a traditional Shanghai man(husband)?
Wow! I probably won’t take that many trips in my lifetime! I’m going to share with my husband that there is something called a spousal harmony trip. He’s about 20 years behind 🙂 safe traveling, look forward to your trip reports 🙂
@Stacy – “spousal harmony trip” the spouse picks everything and the other smiles and implements. This is our solution for a marriage with one travel nut and one not so much.
I went to Jeju Island in 2013 and loved it! Lots to see there.
@Jamison – I decided I will do a 2013 list, too, and that will stretch to 2012. Sigh, good problem to have! @Gene – avoid Lion Air for starters, they cancel flights whenever and wheverer, my last trip they canceled my flights several days in advance without explanation, at least I had time to find something else. I flew Sriwijaya to East Timor and those flights went well. Garuda and their subsidiary CityLink are probably best, though often expensive. Travel Is Free has a great post on using Korean Air SkyPass for them, the Indonesia Island Hopper. For actually buying… Read more »
Pretty impressive travel calendar.
No kids, huh?
What is “nearby country”? I hope you didn’t forget the name! 😉
not bad.
any recommends for flying inside indonesia please?
I know how you feel about Trip Reports as I am in that same situation. I’m still blogging about a trip I took back in May of 2014 which is a shame. I made a pact to write my reports in chronological order and who knows when I will catch up! I’m like 7 months behind now. Happy New Year!
