Fascinating presentation from Drs. Clement Yeh and Rachael Callcut of San Francisco General Hospital on the medical response to the crash of Asiana Airlines Flight 214.

So many thought-provoking details on preparedness and the response down to everyday details such as new medical residents coming in and a new rotation schedule on its first day.

Dr. Callcut notes the unusual challenge of treating those on the plane: “…one of the things that’s particularly interesting about this plane crash is that the statistics show that if there’s even a single fatality, there’s only a 4% chance of having survivors…either everyone survives or nobody survives, its very unusual to have a plane crash situation like what we had in Asiana and have almost everyone survive but have them be so injured.”
