Set aside the hot chocolate and sample Hong Kong-style milk tea (港式奶茶).
With chunks of the US under snow and having packed it in well in advance of the storm, let’s have a warming giveaway.
In Case You Missed It: Mystery Arline Amenity Kit Giveaway is still running, enter now!
Hong Kong milk tea is a great pleasures of a visit to the territory. Rich and bitter, I take it straight, while many fold in spoons of sugar. Have it hot or cold. My wife favors the milk tea and coffee pairing, known as Yuanyang (Mandarin duck) to symbolize how those ducks romantically couple (鸳鸯奶茶).
Whatever you do, do not judge by Cathay Pacific’s weak, dishwater version.
Without the full setup of ball of Lipton tea bags, nylon stocking filters and Black & White brand evaporated milk, the instant alternative is Lipton’s milk tea sachets.
I will share one set each of sachets of the five flavors of Lipton’s Quality Mellow line with two randomly drawn readers. The collection is:
- British Yellow Label Original
- Belgian Chocolate
- Italian Frothy Milk
- Taiwanese Oolong
- Japanese Matcha

Hate to tell you this, but Cathay serves Instant Lipton Milk Tea on their planes in J.
Confirmed by asking Cathay FA, reconfirmed by buying and trying these myself.
@Lumpy – shocking! I have never flown them in J. I have had at the HKG lounge and the taste was nothing like it, unless it was just terribly watered down? My wife flew them in J and she said it had no flavor so maybe it is too much water. The sachets, for instance, do best at about half the size of the typical US mug.
