I’m always happy to read your slideshows on car rentals. You reiterate some important stuff from previous presentations, and add new tidbits.

I learned about the Capital One portal through your website a couple of years ago and have used it several times to save quite a bit of money, most recently on a one-way rental. The only problem with Capital One is that it is hard to find your way to the correct page on their website.

I found using http://www.autoslash.com after booking the best price I can find saves me another 10-15%

Alamo doesn’t usually have huge mileage promos, but getting 1K AA miles isn’t so hard. https://www.alamo.com/en_US/car-rental/partners/partner-details/affinity/7015732-american-airlines.html?customerNumber=7015732 They’ve had 1K UA mile promos in the past. Alamo’s probably best at generating WN RR points: http://travel.southwest.com/specialoffers/offerDetails.html?id=62206454 On a two day rental, 1200 points is a net rebate of $17 at 70 RR/dollar redemption value. That’s not bad if you can score offseason rental rates. On a one day rental, WN69 on a midsize is pretty good at Thrifty (same 1200 RR point rebate): https://www.swabiz.com/html/rapidrewards/promotions/thrifty-1.html I’d probably take 1200 RR points over 1K VS.
