Free entry to over 1,500 Smithsonian-affiliated museums on Sept 29

Check out our Top Rewards Cards to boost your points earning and travel more!

Museum Day is September 29 and over 1,500 Smithsonian-affiliated museums open their doors for free. The official website has a handy Find a Museum tool.

Browsing the list for my home state (not my current resident state by force conjugal) I see many museums of which I was previously unaware. Free entry is a good motivation to try a museum, or a bunch, that you might otherwise never visit.

Readers, what participating museums do you recommend?

If you’ve never checked out the American Swedish Institute, you should! It’s especially cool around Christmastime. 🙂

“New Mexico Museum of Natural History & Science” We were going there anywhere since the mommy has other things to do. Perfect for a dino-day!

Thank you!

September 29 happens to be a free National Park day, too.
