I want to visit Tokyo this summer. Where should I stay if my flight coming in at Haneda airport to save time on traffic? Where would you recommend for four days itinerary? Is there good and reasonable accommodation you wold recommend?
@Shannon – give us the week to get up to date. Other than short business trips I’ve not spent time in Tokyo since college. Haneda Airport is connected by metro and near the first and second stops from the airport are a number of relatively budget hotels you can get around $80-100, my wife stayed in one on a layover last year, usually that is shared bathrooms in Japanese style.
@Shannon – Haneda is conntect by a train line to the city. JPY 410 to Shinagawa station, for example. The Passmo smart card now works on all the Tokyo rail lines and buses, making the jumble of systems much easier to navigate. There are lots of smaller hotels that are clean and safe that don’t need to be excessively expensive. We saw several near Gotanda station, convenient to Haneda, and the big tourist areas, with a nice collection of restaurants. One is Tokyu Stay Gotanda that is around $100-$120.
