Here’s a Terrible Way to Promote Your Elite Status Levels

Fairmont President’s Club gets rolled into Le Club AccorHotels on July 2, 2018.

Fairmont distinguished itself with upgrade and free night certificates. Accor has €40 vouchers.

I have Fairmont Premier status from the former Chase Fairmont card. Along the way to program integration, Accor sent a mailer highlighting their status levels:

Fairmont Accor Status

Typically when you make the marketing bullet points you find something to distinguish the status levels. Here, Silver and Gold appear exactly the same.

Platinum is really aspirational: turndown service and ‘exclusive concierge reservation service.’

Here’s a Better View

The Accor website does not have a side-by-side comparison, though you can see the progression of benefits here.

Silver is not without benefits. Note that the Priority Pass benefit is a discount for a paid membership, not a free membership.

Accor SilverGold has check-in/check-out and upgrade benefits:

Accor Gold

Platinum adds lounge access:

I’m wondering if they’ve just not posted the revised new Accor program benefits as these have pretty much been the previous benefits of each tier, particularly exec lounge access for Platinum elites…and I don’t see either the room category upgrade for Gold and Platinum as well as free wifi on the new comparison chart. I would expect those are the prime benefits of elite status most members look for. Bottom line: Fairmont Plats are royally pissed off.
