NY Double Meetups: Miles 10/30, Countries 11/1, Both Collectors

Check out our Top Rewards Cards to boost your points earning and travel more!

I lead a double travel life. Miles and points travelers rarely overlap with country collectors. Miles travelers aren’t usually thrilled to get an Angola visa. Country Collectors often see points sullying the purity of their travel.

Miles and points have opened up travel to me beyond my financial means. It also has meant I can compress time by making flights affordable where otherwise I might more often need to use slower transport, or squeezing in shorter trips rather than needing to reserve huge blocks of time away from work.

I’ll be back in NY at the end of the month, hosting meetups for each of these crowds.

Interesting observation about lack of overlap between the two interests. I’ve made it to 123 countries now and have benefited greatly from miles and points. It seems a logical pairing.

Yet I was at the Chicago Seminar and did notice a whole lot more talk about EQMs, upgrades and status – stuff I don’t care about – than about great redemption opportunities to cool places (I’d get bored in a couple of days at Necker Island).

Maybe there should be a Chicago Seminar for serious international travelers, except maybe we don’t hold still long enough to get together.
