If you have status with Alaska, American, Delta, Southwest, United and Virgin America you should receive Mosaic for the rest of 2017 (possibly to January 31, 2018).

You will also, along with those with no airline status, be registered for a 90-day challenge to quality for Mosaic for all of 2018. That requires earning 3,750 base flight TrueBlue points (spend and fly $1,250 in base fares).

The JetBlue Plus credit card public offer is at an all-time high 40,000 points. With Mint rolling out to more US and Caribbean markets, JetBlue may be newly relevant if you are in a market with their service.

Mosaic status is not often matched by other airlines to their status, so this is not a daisy-chaining play.

My wife and I did this same match last year after we netted a bunch for points from the SPG->Virgin America deal.We flew JetBlue one roundtrip New York JFK-Boston and had such a terrible irregular operations experience the return that we did not fly them again.

JetBlue flies Seattle-Long Beach and we are always interested in a LA Chinese/Korean food weekend. Better, if only slightly, to have Mosaic, than not. Long Beach may be more convenient than LAX.

This route is often $200+, though we found dates that worked for under $200. I was not going to give one extra dollar to fly them when we could instead have low price Delta flights to LAX with good upgrade rates.

I may also try to get the credit card ahead of the April 2018 launch of Seattle-New York JFK Mint service.
