Targeted Transfer Bonuses

Qantas Frequent Flyer Transfer Bonus June 2019

If you have an existing Qantas Frequent Flyer account and have made credit card transfers in the past, such as from Citi or Capital One, like me you may today have gotten a targeted bonus transfer offer.

I received a 15%-30% bonus offer good to June 30, 2019 (23:59 AEST), meaning points have to post to Qantas by then. Citi and Capital one transfers take around 48-36 hours so don’t time those close. No cap on the amount of points transferred under this offer.

  • 15% bonus: transfers up to 500,000 Qantas points*
  • 20% bonus: transfers from 500,001 to 1,999,999 Qantas points*
  • 30% bonus: transfers from 2,000,000 and over Qantas points*

*based on the amount of Qantas points received in the Qantas account

These bonus offers do not show on your credit card transfer page. They are added later on the back-end by Qantas. The bonus points may not post until 15 days after the end of the offer.

Qantas sends these offers roughly quarterly. Offers have been as high as 40% for big transfers.

The terms says these Qantas-offered transfer bonuses do not stack with concurrent bonuses offered by credit card companies, however there are reports that they do indeed stack. Wait a bit into June to see if Amex runs a transfer bonus to welcome Qantas.

If you want to be targeted in the future, open a Qantas account and send a few points over. These are big amounts so make sure your planned use justifies such a transfer AND that those awards exist.

Why Qantas Frequent Flyer?

Qantas at Lord Howe Island Airport

  1. Arguably the best Oneworld airline website for award searches.
  2. Better availability on Qantas flights to destinations such as Lord Howe Island.
  3. An Avios-like distance-based program with some good values.
  4. An eclectic assortment of airline partners that you may not otherwise have points to access or as cheaply. Air Vanuatu, anyone?
