Louvre has a coal miner’s daughter: new Louvre-Lens

The Louvre has spawned its first offshoot in northern French mining town Lens.

Louvre-Lens opened December 12. The Atlantic discusses its chances to replicate the ‘Bilbao Effect,’ the Guardian has a nice video, and Time echoes The Atlantic in covering local hopes to lift an economically depressed region.
