My wife and I are Australia-bound for Thanksgiving. We went for her first time in July and she insists we return immediately.

is it less challenging at this time to book flight to Australia while most people are getting together with family?
Not really, AA and UA came up with nothing that worked (a few Star flights such as Air China had mega-connection times and we don’t have non-UA Star Alliance miles to book business for her at a reasonable rate). About the only reliable availability is SkyTeam’s Asian partners. If booking through Delta you need to search segment by segment and call to book. The website will only handle US to Australia direct routing rather than through Asia.
