IHG released their Q2 2016 PointBreaks with no preview, book here before gone.
This continues the trend of no big wow hotels. There are plenty of roadside US hotels and very very in Asia and Middle East & Africa. Most are attractive if you are going to be in the place anyway or as a cheap option in a place you want to visit, rather than for the hotel itself.
One highlight is Crowne Plaza Johannesburg – The Rosebank.
It is walkable from the airport GauTrain and The Rosebank is a large, safe development with residential, commercial and shopping options.
I stayed in 2012 on business. As an IHG Platinum they gave various benefits such as two laundry items per day. I can’t remember if they gave free breakfast, it may have already been in my corporate rate.
Johannesburg is underrated. The attractions are many, including the Apartheid Museum, Soweto, Pretoria and the UNESCO-listed Crandle of Humankind. There are area-specific safety issues to mind, though the city is hardly a no-go.

We stayed at the hotel last fall. As a platinum, they didn’t give free breakfast. However, they did offer lounge access which had small bites and drinks throughout the day.
just changed my reservation from the Hyatt Regency with confirmed DSU to the CP with 5,000 points and about $31 confirmed cash upgrade to a suite!
