“•Kurdistan Iraq Tours launch the first comprehensive tour guide of The Kurdistan Region Of Iraq”

I ordered it. Thank you very much. I notice that Etihad and Qatar are both resuming service to EBL in late October, which makes a Kurdistan trip more accessible, though I don’t yet know when I’m going.

@brteacher – when I visited it was on an AA award on Qatar, note there is an issue with the UK so BA won’t sell revenue or award tickets to Iraq, Avios still won’t work unless things change.

Thanks again. I’m not sure that I understand the reasoning behind that, but it’s good to know.

The Kurdistan guidebook is unusual. It has lots of useful info, and the pages are glossy with lots of good photos, but there are lots of pages of ads. Lots of them are by entities such as oil companies, which have nothing to do with travel, which makes me think that the KRG basically put them up to sponsoring the publication of the book. The authors also run a tour company, http://www.kurdistaniraqtours.com, and they promote their tours to the same places that they advise visiting. But, still, it’s way, way better than nothing, which is what else there is.

@brteacher – it looks like Bradt is coming out with a new Iraq guide at year-end, I will be curious to see what they cover and how they recommend to travel.
