My email inbox reminded me that the AirTran credit card still exists, though it does not even appear on Chase’s main credit card page and is not promoted through the affiliate channels that prompt breathless promotions. Eventually Southwest will finish digesting AirTran and this card will go away.
The best offer I have found, via FlyerTalk is for:
- 32 credits (2 US roundtrips) after $2,00o spend in 90 days
- 2 business class upgrades after first purchase
- 2 credits every year on card anniversary.
- Annual fee waived first year, $69 thereafter
This link goes direct to the application and states the upgrades. Other links, like the email offer I received, have the splash page but do not mention the upgrades.
How this all transitions to Southwest I do not know, however the annual two credits might be worth it.
Chase has many cards competing for your wallet, including 2 Southwest cards that can be leveraged for an annual companion pass, but this card may be of interest to some.
Disclaimer: I do not receive any commission if you apply for this card.
