TSA PreCheck’s expansion has been in a holding pattern since the launch at Denver last fall. Now 5 more airports have been added, bring the total to 40:

  • Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS): Checkpoint 2 for Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, United Airlines and US Airways, and US CBP Trusted Traveler program members (see press release)
  • Cleveland Hopkins International Airport (CLE): South Checkpoint for American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, United Airlines and US Airways, and US CBP Trusted Traveler program members (see press release)
  • Memphis International Airport (MEM): Checkpoint B forAmerican Airlines, Delta Air Lines, United Airlines and US Airways, and US CBP Trusted Traveler program members (see press release)
  • Nashville International Airport (BNA): Main Checkpoint American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, United Airlines and US Airways, and US CBP Trusted Traveler program members (see press release)
  • Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU): Terminal 2 Checkpoint for Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, United Airlines and US Airways, and US CBP Trusted Traveler program members (see press release)

There are many valid criticism of the TSA and PreCheck program. I choose to take a practical view that I love it when I can get it and hope that a successful track record of sane security screening can allow all US air travel to move to this model.

Readers, which of these 5 airports needed PreCheck the most?

Well, we have had PreCheck at LAS for some time in the main terminal. But then they opened up brand new terminal 3 and a lot of the airlines moved over to there including Alaska which I travel on all the time. Guess what? One year later there is still no PreCheck in terminal 3 and the lines are sometimes legendary. Go figure.

@john – I do specify which checkpoints and what airlines are eligible. I am reporting expansion to new airports so not sure how else to do it.

I have a couple of issues with the way precheck is reported on these blogs…. it is always reported airport based…. but the TSA precheck website is organized by airline…. They apparently work with individual airlines. So it is generally only at some terminals in some airports sometimes…. like for instance it says that at BOS AA has precheck… well ummm sorry but that seems BS since I have never seen any indication of it. they barely had a business line the last few times I was there.

I don’t know which needed it the most but I’m thrilled to see it in Memphis & Nashville where I can use it!
